Ken Fehr, Vice President, Sparta Operations, Spartan Light Metal Products announces the expansion of the Sparta Illinois Facility. The expansion will consist of 90,000 square feet; designated primarily for shipping, receiving and warehousing. Spartan Light Metal Products targets February 2017 as a projected completion date.

Spartan Light Metal Products Receives Supplier Award From Toyota

Spartan Light Metal Products, a supplier of aluminum and magnesium custom die castings was recognized with an Excellent Quality Performance Award from Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA) at its Annual Supplier Business Meeting (ABM) on March 15. Held at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, ABM brings together approximately 850 supplier representatives from across North America.
Spartan Light Metal’s Hannibal, Missouri plant has been recognized for quality and delivery by Toyota for six consecutive years. This year less than 5% of the supplier locations qualified for this award and only a small handful of suppliers have consecutive years’ recognition. Spartan is very pleased to be recognized with the Excellent Quality Performance Award from Toyota.

Spartan Light Metal Products is pleased to be recognized with the Excellent Quality Award from Toyota. There were only 16 Toyota suppliers to receive this prestigious Quality Performance Award. Spartan’s Hannibal, Missouri plant has been recognized for quality by Toyota for five consecutive years. They have also distinguished themselves by their excellent safety record by recently celebrating over seven years without a lost time accident.
Currently celebrating 19 years, ABM allows TEMA to discuss business objectives with direct and indirect suppliers in preparation for its upcoming fiscal year. Each year, TEMA recognizes suppliers who exceeded the company’s expectations in several categories.
“Toyota works in collaboration with each of our supplier partners to produce vehicles that meet our customers’ expectations for quality, safety, and reliability,” said Robert Young, TEMA's purchasing vice president. “We are pleased to recognize those suppliers that exceed our performance and collaboration targets. This event highlights our suppliers’ dedication to continuous improvement and long-term partnerships to build ‘always better cars’ in North America.”
The North American Die Casting Association is pleased to recognize Corporate Members with operations which have a strong focus on their employee's safety and well being. NADCA's Safety Award Program was developed to honor Corporate Members that both exceed and meet the average U.S. national safety standards for all manufacturing in a given year. Companies that have maintained a safety record during 2013 with 0 lost days/transfers/restrictions are awarded with a "Perfect" award. Companies with records equal to, or less than 4.4%, the national average for all manufacturing, are recognized with an "Outstanding" award.

Jubel gift will create new home for WUSTL’s Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science

A major commitment by Donald Jubel, on his family’s behalf, to honor his late parents will provide the impetus for the next phase of physical expansion for Washington University in St. Louis’ School of Engineering & Applied Science.
When built, the Henry A. and Elvira H. Jubel Hall will be a first-class facility housing the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, the school’s second-largest major, and allow for critically needed space for the projected influx of faculty, researchers and students.
Bruce Breitzman Promoted To Chief Operating Officer

Spartan Light Metal Products, Inc. announced today that Bruce Breitzman has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Breitzman joined Spartan in 2007 as Vice President Sparta IL Operations, and was subsequently promoted in 2011 to Executive Vice President Operations in the Company's St. Louis Corporate Services Center. In 2013, he was given additional responsibility for the Sales and Business Development Function.

Donald Jubel, BSME ’73, believes that technology doesn’t build great companies. People do. This is what his father, Henry Jubel, a 1940 graduate of the School of Engineering & Applied Science, believed and demonstrated as the founder of Spartan Light Metal Products, headquartered in St. Louis. Established in 1961, the company is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of aluminum and magnesium custom die-casting products and assemblies.
The Volkswagen Group invited over 150 entrepreneurs and managers from the international supplier industry to the “Gläserne Manufaktur” in Dresden to attend yesterday evening’s ceremony to present the Volkswagen Group Award 2013. Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, and Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG with responsibility for ‘Procurement’, presented the Group Award to the 21 best suppliers.

Last Friday, May 18, Volkswagen of Mexico for the eleventh time, the traditional awards ceremony for excellence from their suppliers, to deliver the Volkswagen Group Award 2012.
This time 18 companies were awarded the Volkswagen Group Award 2012, which Volkswagen distinction in the North America Region recognizes the overall excellence in the performance of their suppliers, their collaboration, commitment and dedication during the previous year.
